Adam is the Director of Youth Work at a Brighton & Hove-based Charity called the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC), where he has overseen the development and implementation of high-profile, multi-award winning Youth Work initiatives, including the Brighton Streets detached Youth Work project. Adam Lectures part-time at the University of Brighton and is on the Editorial Board of the Youth & Policy Journal. Between 2014 and 2020, Adam Chaired the Institute for Youth Work, England’s Professional Association for Youth Workers.
Adam’s route into Youth Work was through his lived experience of being ‘youth worked’ in Romsey, Hampshire when he found himself homeless, then in Residential Care whilst also a Young Carer for his younger sister. The safety, belonging and purpose provided by his Youth Workers became powerful motivation to ensure that all young people have the same opportunities during their adolescence. Adam proudly Chairs the REIMAGINED Youth Work Sub-Group and is keen that the process highlights compelling systemic solutions to society’s increasingly challenging youth context, and can find ways to create greater safety, belonging and purpose for all.
